I’m still slowly bringing Patreon content over here as I have the time and energy. Today I did a big push to get 30 of the 44 stories moved over and linked via the member-supported projects table of contents page.
Once the stories are moved over, I’ll tackle the articles, as I’m thinking also of bringing Just a Draft in and deconstructing out just the articles about writing, adding other articles, and just creating a writing content area for member-supported projects.
After that, I’ll move over the book that Patreon readers have access to, The Island in the Sky, and then I’m thinking Arctic Rising and Hurricane Fever eventually will just transition into reader-supported books that can be found on the site. They’re out of print. Indy-boosters say “just put them up for sale on Amazon” but, I’m doing my best to pull back from Amazon. There’s so much scammy, weird shit going on, so much AI generated fiction, I just want to step away from all that hustle, MLM-sounding drama and get back to basics over here.
Totally concur with backing off from Amazon. I have an Amazon Prime credit card, great points back in Amazon bucks, it’s all so damn easy, but Amazon is a sleazeball, totally enshittified company. I’m trying to wean myself, it’s hard …
It has not been easy, but we are aiming for this summer to wean ourselves off entirely. Amazon was a big reason I made a decision to stay in a rural area. Pre-Amazon, it was so isolated, I had to drive an hour to buy a book. I was an early adopter of shipping things to my rural location.
All 44 are now moved over. Woo!
